Jacob & Krysta {Engagement Session}

It is always great to meet new clients from past clients. I was referred to Jacob & Krysta from my friends and past clients James & Bethany, whose wedding I shot last year. For their engagement session we took photos around the beautiful Center Hill Lake in Smithville and also at Krysta’s grandmothers property. It is always rewarding to watch a couple in love interact as I capture images of them. I am honored that they chose me to be a part of their special day.

To get to know Jacob & Krysta better I had Krysta answer 5 questions {Jacob answered one of them as well}

Q. How did you meet?

A. We met through mutual friends while I was still in high school and started dating in December of 2008.

Q. {to Krysta} What is your favorite thing about Jacob?

A. My favorite thing about Jacob, and I always use this to describe him, is that he is constant. He is absolutely my rock and supports everything that I am.

Q. {to Jacob} What is your favorite thing about Krysta?

A. I have to choose just one? I like that how no matter how bad of a day I am having, Krysta makes everything better by just loving me.

Q. Funniest moment together?

A. Our funniest moment together has to be when we opened our gifts at our shower. We were so blessed with parents and families that give so freely that we gained almost everything needed for our house even before the shower. Making our registry was exciting because we no longer had to choose what we needed but a few things we wanted to have. I love Paula Deen’s kitchenware and we already had acquired a huge set of pots and pans that is part of her line. I found a rather expensive but nice set of knives she has and I nearly died when I saw them! I had to have them so as a joke I placed them on my registry list. They were expensive so I never expected to receive them but I thought…what if? Once the shower came, we’re opening gifts and I started dancing and screaming, nearly in tears because guess what!? Someone bought the Paula Deen knife set!! Yes!!! Clearly one of the highlights of our journey in starting a life together! We’re a little silly, we know.

Q. How did he propose?

A. Jacob proposed Valentines Day 2011. It was a complete surprise because we planned our dinner for the following weekend since I was busy and overwhelmed with school work. He insisted profusely that we go to dinner that night. I was not a happy camper but I gave in and agreed to go. We went to a local restaurant in Smithville, Kilgore’s, which we often eat at. To my complete surprise, after dinner while opening the door to let me in his truck, he said honey I love you. I replied, I love you too and smiled. He said yeah, well for how long? I said I hope forever and ever. That’s when he promptly got down on one knee and popped open a white box with a beautiful shiny diamond ring. Will you marry me? I thought he was joking because the box wouldn’t open at first. He had nervously placed it in his back pocket hoping I wouldn’t see it and sat on it all night. I said YES! It wasn’t extravagant or outrageously romantic but it was perfectly Us!

Q. Where are you going on your honeymoon?

A. We are going to Biloxi, Mississippi where Jacob was born. He has never been there since he was about 1 year old so we are super excited to let this be something we experience together as newlyweds.
